You might have to check the scoreboard more often than usual this week as both Manteo and John A. Holmes enter their game this Friday after big points in their previous contests. John A. Holmes picked up a decisive 'W' against Perquimans two weeks ago, finishing up at 70 - 7. As for Manteo, it took its game against Gates County last week by a confident 35 - 13 score.
John A. Holmes might be getting used to wins now that the team has gotten five in a row. It got the good result in part due to three touchdowns from senior Keimon Bailey, who has now contributed at least one touchdown in the past 11 games. Bailey should be a familiar name as he has been a major contributor for John A. Holmes in the past 11 games. John A. Holmes remains undefeated at home and rose to 10-1.
In its game, Manteo got an early lead and never looked back, outscoring Gates County in every quarter en route to its victory. Senior Thatcher Tillett didn't have many carries in the previous game, but he had more touches this time and made them count as he picked up 129 yards on the ground. The win lifted Manteo to 9-3.
Both John A. Holmes and Manteo are bound to feel confident after their prior matchups, but one team's ego will take a hit. Check back on MaxPreps to find out which one when the teams meet up this week.
