Look Out Below
Roncalli put forth a good scoring effort last week and even improved upon it this week, but that didn't prove quite enough. It was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as it fell 49 - 45 to Decatur Central. The quarterback felt the defeat most of all -- literally. After five sacks, he is probably hoping to get a little more protection in the future. The rough outing dragged Roncalli down four positions in the power rankings -- the largest fall of the week.
Welcome
Evansville Memorial brought the heat last game after its low-scoring effort (seven points) in the match before. It put the hurt on Evansville Harrison with a conclusive 42 - 6 victory. Evansville Memorial made sure to walk the walk to justify being talked up as the big favorite. Thanks to its success, Evansville Memorial cracked into the power rankings and now occupies the 25th spot.
Can't Touch This
Evansville Central got a 40 - 17 win over Evansville Mater Dei last week, and a key reason for the win was sophomore Tor'jon Evans. Evans earned five touchdowns and 216 yards rushing the ball. That performance made Evans one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
Movin on Up
It isn't too difficult to come out on top when you enjoy a 200-yard edge over your opponent, and Pike had just that last week. It strolled past North Central with points to spare, taking it 45 - 28. Senior Jordan Garrett was a big part of the win as his strong performance led the charge (he tossed the ball for 354 yards and three TDs). The team's efforts were enough to boost its power ranking by three, which was the most sizeable gain made by any team in the rankings.
