Even if things were shuffled around here and there, the power rankings for this week won't seem too unfamiliar if you've been following along. Don't let that fool you into thinking nothing interesting happened, though. That and more in this week's report.
Movin on Up
Kapa'a brought the heat last game after its low-scoring effort (three points) in the match before. The final score between it and Waimea was a 38 - 0 blowout in Kapa'a's favor. Kapa'a did have the odds in its favor, but the team did even better than the MaxPreps state rankings indicated. The success catapulted it four spots up the power rankings, enough to make it the biggest riser of the week.
Can't Stop Won't Stop
It was another outing, another win last week for the team with the longest stretch of success (five consecutive games). St. Francis scooted by Pac-Five with a score of 26 - 6. Despite St. Francis's win, the team was passed up by other teams in the power rankings and gave up three spots in the rankings.
No Stoppin 'Em
Campbell and Mililani went up, up, and away last week as they combined for the highest point total (66) among all power ranked teams. Mililani put the hurt on Campbell with a conclusive 52 - 14 victory. The power rankings were completely indifferent to the match, so neither team moved up or down this week.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Kapolei (7th in the power rankings) and St. Louis (1st). St. Louis will be strutting in after a win while Kapolei will be stumbling in from a defeat. Will St. Louis repeat its success, or will Kapolei bounce back and dish team a loss? Check back after their contest Friday for the full scoop.
