Central Sequoia recap September 4, 2013
Kingsburg's Seth Brooks recorded the longest rushing play in Central Sequoia this season in his game against Tranquillity last week. Brooks scampered for 56 yards on the play and finished with 102 on the day as his team topped the Tigers.
Exeter scaled the state rankings by moving to 426 from 665 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Monarchs were able to make move up by topping Tehachapi 17-7.
Brandon Steele put up the best numbers in passing as Kingsburg topped Tranquillity. He finished with a total of 5 completions for 114 yards and 2 touchdowns. Steele's favorite target this week was Austen Hammerstrom, who caught 2 passes for 56 yards.
Michael Wright was a passing and rushing force as Dinuba defeated Madera. Wright's key target this week was Emiliano Huerta, who caught 2 passes for 41 yards.
Wright was the best running back in the league this week. In 26 carries, he ran for 207 yards as the Emperors topped the Warriors. Teammate Omar Duarte added to the ground attack by rushing for 23 yards.
Cortez was the best receiver in Central Sequoia this week as Ben White's team topped Tehachapi. Cortez racked up 8 receptions for 69 yards. Chad Zeibak helped Exeter's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 27 yards.
Mason Gosvener made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Monarchs defeated Steve Denman's team. The 6-foot-0 senior.
On the heels of Marcus McMaryion and Wright, Dinuba has had great success on offense. McMaryion leads the league in passing with 162 yards, while Wright has rushed for 207 yards this season. Exeter's Cortez leads the league in receiving yards with 69 on 8 catches.
Dave Steele's team took down Juan Sandoval's team 56-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Steele in the win.
