Holtville (4 - 4) takes on Vincent Memorial (4 - 4) this Friday at 7:00 PM. Holtville dropped a decent lead last game -- we'll see if that pushes the squad to a win or puts them in a funk.
Last week, Holtville took on Orange Glen. The Holtville defense started things off right, holding Orange Glen to six points in the first half. That gave them a 15 - 6 advantage at the half. Unfortunately, the defense lost its edge in the second half, allowing 33 points. Faltering after the half, Holtville coughed its lead and lost 39 - 35.
As for Vincent Memorial, it picked up a decisive 'W' against Lutheran last week, finishing up at 56 - 6. Junior quarterback Eduardo Valenzuela was a big part of the win as his strong performance led the charge (he ran for 90 yards and punched in one touchdown). Valenzuela has been a consistent playmaker for Vincent Memorial as this was the 8th good game in a row from him.
Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, Vincent Memorial and Holtville will really light up the scoreboard.
