St. Monica is nine games into its season, but it hasn't met anyone harder than the team challenging it next. It takes on St. Genevieve this Friday at 7:00 PM. Neither team managed to put together many points last game, so their meeting could be a low-scoring affair.
St. Monica wasn't able to scrape together any points last week, falling to Mary Star of the Sea 12 - 0. St. Monica unfortunately couldn't repeat the imposing 54-point effort it came up with in its previous game.
As for St. Genevieve, last game was the first rocky defensive outing for it this year. It had a rough outing against St. Anthony last week, losing 47 - 9. The team got a solid performance out of junior Ray Beauchamp (he ran for 131 yards and punched in one touchdown); unfortunately, it just wasn't enough for the win. Beauchamp has now scored at least one TD in the past four consecutive games.
After their losses, St. Monica dropped to 3-5 and St. Genevieve dropped to 7-1. We'll find out which team manages to turn its luck around when they battle it out this week.
