Dawson-Bryant (11-1) and Nelsonville-York (12-0) face off this Friday at 7:30 PM to determine whose season will come to a close. Both teams have excelled on the defensive side of the ball (Dawson-Bryant allowing an average of 13 points, Nelsonville-York an average of 13).
Dawson-Bryant went up against Southeastern last week. Dawson-Bryant's offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 26 points in the first half. That put it at a 26 - 0 advantage. The offense continued to do well in the second half, scoring 20 points. At the end of the day, Dawson-Bryant walked away with a breezy 46 - 22 win.
As for Nelsonville-York, it kept its home record unblemished after another positive outing on its own turf. It battled it out with Fort Frye last week for a well-earned 26 - 20 overtime win. One of the main ringleaders for Nelsonville-York was senior Garrett Maiden, who threw for 230 yards and three touchdowns. Maiden should be a familiar name as he has been a major contributor for Nelsonville-York in the past ten games. Additional support came from senior Ronnie Wend, a defensive powerhouse who racked up 28 tackles.
