The regular season was a success, but the real challenge begins now, in the postseason. This Friday DeKalb County takes on Marshall County in the first playoff game of the year. Marshall County will be looking to take advantage of a struggling DeKalb County defense that has allowed an average of 33 points per game.
DeKalb County claimed a 16 - 8 victory over Cumberland County last week. That marks its first win on the road this year.
As for Marshall County, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's just how it played out between it and Nolensville. Marshall County dominated last week, steamrollering Nolensville 49 - 6. Marshall County is ranked 46th in the state (many places ahead of Nolensville), so the decisive victory wasn't entirely unexpected.
Their wins bumped Marshall County to 7-3 and DeKalb County to 3-7. While both teams are coming off of wins, only one will triumph this week. We'll find out soon enough who that will be.
