One team took the elevator way up and another took it way down in the power rankings this week. Among the action were the efforts of Northwest's junior Reagan Jones, an offensive menace who scored seven total TDs.
Can't Touch This
Pratt's 32 - 16 win over Halstead last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior Travis Theis. Theis ran for 221 yards and also punched in three touchdowns. That performance landed Theis among the top power-ranked players for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of last week's main attractions was the confrontation between Blue Valley and Blue Valley North, 3rd and 7th in the power rankings, respectively. Blue Valley finished its game with a 31 - 20 win. No one had a larger role in the success than senior Eric Olson, who brought his A game into the contest. He rushed for 170 yards and two touchdowns.
Movin on Up
Paola not only got the result it was looking for last game, but the team outscored its opponent Fort Scott in every quarter. The final score between Paola and Fort Scott was a 42 - 0 blowout in Paola's favor. Paola was heavily favored coming into this contest, and the results showcase why. The success catapulted it 25 spots up the power rankings, enough to make it the biggest riser of the week.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Pittsburg (11th in the power rankings) and Blue Valley North (7th).
