RUSK, Texas - A 33-point lead at the beginning of the fourth quarter didn't slow down
Athens (Texas) as it put 16 more points on the scoreboard to secure its victory over Rusk (Texas) 49-0.
After taking the lead on a touchdown in the first quarter, the Hornets led 21-0 at the half.
Athens expanded its lead to 33 points entering the fourth quarter. AHS scored three times in the third, including once on a field goal.
The victory was a completely different match up compared to last season's game between these two teams, which the Eagles took, 38-3.
The loss comes after Rusk defeated Eustace 21-0 last week. With the win the Hornets extended their winning streak to four games.
Rusk (1-3) will play a non-conference game against Brownsboro next week, while Athens (4-0) will take on Palestine also in a non-conference game.
