Adding to the longest winning streak in 3A Region IV District 25 this week, El Campo beat Sealy 21-7. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Columbus' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Cardinals feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Tyson Simcik has thrown for 997 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, while Royce Caldwell has 10 catches for 353 yards.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Columbus takes on El Campo. The Cardinals' offense has recorded 211 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Bob Gillis' team has permitted only 72 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Columbus takes on the Ricebirds. As it stands, Tony Valastro's team is in fourth, while El Campo is in first.
Royal made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,103 from 9,248. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 58-34 victory over the Falcons last week.
