North Central (Indianapolis)
guard D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera
made a commitment to Xavier University over the weekend, according to the Indianapolis Star.
One of the premier juniors in the country, the 6-foot-3, 210-pounder said he chose Xavier over Georgetown and Wake Forest. He also considered Indiana, Ohio State and Miami (Fla.).
Smith-Rivera averaged 17.7 points a game last year while helping North Central win the Class 4A state championship. He was just cleared last week to resume practicing after missing three months with a knee injury.
Two other Indianapolis products, Jeff Robinson and Justin Martin, also are a part of the Xavier program.
