Led by an explosive offense and stingy defense, Holy Trinity improved to 5-0 with a 34-12 victory over visiting Xaverian on Saturday afternoon. The Titans offense was paced by Anthony Brunetti’s 174 yards and two touchdowns. The defense was received a strong effort from junior Mike Sinto, who had an interception and a fumble recovery.
Holy Trinity struck first in the opening quarter with a 10-yard touchdown run by Brunetti. The PAT gave the Titans a 7-0 lead. The score would stay that way until Holy Trinity’s first drive of the second quarter when Brunetti ran seven yards for the score. The kick failed.
The Titans’ offense continued to roll a Xaverian fumble. Four plays after the turnover, freshman quarterback Chris Laviano connected with Wray Fucci for a 29-yard touchdown pass. The PAT gave Holy Trinity a commanding 20-0 lead.
The Titans would add to the lead in the third quarter. The Titans capped a seven-play, 40-yard drive with a four-yard run by Louise Cotrone. The PAT made it 27-0. Holy Trinity would score once more time on two-yard run by Rob Zecker.
The Clippers would score twice in the fourth quarter long after the outcome had been decided.
Holy Trinity will play Iona Prep, next week. Xaverian fell to 2-3,1-3 CHSFL AAA play. The Clippers will take on Mount St. Michael, next weekend.
