Owatonna got a 37 - 0 win over Century last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Abraham Havelka. Havelka threw for 306 yards and four touchdowns. In fact, our algorithms singled out Havelka as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
This Week's Top Game
The confrontation between Elk River (3rd in the power rankings) and St. Cloud Tech (10th) did not disappoint. Elk River won a game that couldn't get any closer, slipping by St. Cloud Tech 14 - 13. No one had a larger role in the success than senior Sherrod Kpahn, who brought his A game into the contest. He ran for 148 yards and also punched in one touchdown.
Can't Stop Won't Stop
It was another outing, another win last week for the team with the longest stretch of success (12 consecutive games). Grantsburg took its game against Elk Mound by a confident 40 - 7 score. Grantsburg saw its record improve to 12-0 and its power rank jump 18 places as a result.
It was up, up, and away for Roseville and Maple Grove last week as they combined for the highest point total (69) among all power ranked teams. Maple Grove claimed a 41 - 28 victory over Roseville. As a result, Maple Grove rose two spots in the power rankings.
