Huron recap November 5, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in Huron this week, Milan beat Thurston 26-14. The victory was the 10th in a row for the Big Reds.
Riverview lost to Melvindale 34-17 last week, the largest margin of any game. Josh Smith was a bright spot for the Pirates, as he ran for 94 yards in the loss.
Milan's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Robert Kanitz threw for 191 and 3 touchdowns and Gage Smith had 129 yards receiving. On the ground Kanitz chipped in 139 yards. Devin Miller helped Milan's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 95 yards.
He went 10-19 with 2 interceptions.
Kanitz was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 139 yards on 23 carries as Jesse Hoskins' team bested the Eagles. Teammate Trace Lindeman added to the ground attack by rushing for 29 yards.
6-foot-1 quarterback Kanitz of the Big Reds is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,153. He has also thrown 12 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Tyler Olson. The Huron star has 25 catches for 663 yards.
St. Mary Catholic Central led the league in scoring this week after putting up 30 points on River Rouge.
