Columbia (Nampa, Idaho) came into Saturday's contest ranked No. 24 in Idaho, but was stunned by
Caldwell (Idaho), 30-15. Caldwell was ranked at No. 63 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Idaho coming into the week.
After taking the lead on a touchdown in the second quarter, the Cougars led 13-7 at the half.
Caldwell expanded its lead to 13 points entering the fourth quarter. The Cougars' lone score in the quarter came on a rushing touchdown.
The victory was a completely different match up compared to last season's game between these two teams, which the Wildcats took, 48-7.
The victory was a step in the right direction for Caldwell, which was coming off a 14-6 defeat at the hands of Middleton in its previous game. The loss comes after Columbia defeated Mountain Home 38-35 last week. The victory ended Caldwell's two-game losing streak. The loss broke Columbia's three-game winning streak.
Columbia (3-1) goes up against Nampa in a 4A Southern Idaho game matchup next week, while Caldwell (1-2) locks horns with Mountain Home also in a 4A Southern Idaho game.
