High School have all been named as the High School Players of the Week for their respective regions by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for games played through April 21, 2012.
In the West Region, Beasley hit .909 for the week with 10 runs scored and 12 RBI. She was perfect at the plate in wins over Deer Valley (Ariz.) and Willow Canyon (Ariz.) with 3 doubles and 2 homeruns, increasing her total to 11 homeruns on the season. On the year the senior is hitting .562 with a 1.236 slugging percentage. The Coyotes improved to 24-5 and a #13 ranking in Arizona.
Representing the East Region, Ferris helped her team to three victories this week, improving her team's record to 9-0. In 21 innings of work, she allowed no earned runs and struck out 19 batters in 3 starts. On the year, she boasts an ERA of .14 and has allowed only 5 extra base hits. The Wildcats are currently ranked #2 in Connecticut.
From the South Central Region, Stewart is off to quite the start offensively this season. This week she improved her overall batting average of .667 and slugging percentage of 1.394, by going 11 for 15 with a region best 10 runs scored and 14 RBI. In a 3 for 4 performance over South (Kan.) the senior was involved in 9 of the Eagles eventual 12 runs, with 4 runs scored, 5 RBI, 1 double and 1 homerun. Maize is 9-1 so far this season and currently ranks #14 in Kansas.
Out of the North Region, Childers went a perfect 3-0 in the circle highlighted by a 9-0 shutout against Harrisburg (Ill.). She threw 19 innings, striking out 22 batters while allowing only 2 earned runs. With the victories she also set a new school record for career wins. On the season the junior owns a 17-3-1 overall record and has held opposing hitters to a .252 batting average. The Patriots record is 23-3-1, good enough for a #7 ranking in the state.
Rounding out this week's awards from the South Region, Marshall had an outstanding week at the plate helping Bishop Verot to a 3-0 finish on the week. The speedy junior went 8 for 10 with 7 runs scored, and was 5 for 6 in stolen bases. The junior improved her overall batting average to .524 and is 18 for 23 in swipes so far this season. The wins helped the Vikings improve to a 21-6.
