The power rankings have been shaken up after a frantic week teeming with triumph and disappointment. We'll tackle that and more in this week's report.
Can't Touch This
Mentor's 45 - 6 win over Shaker Heights last week had a lot to do with the leadership of junior Brian Trobel. Trobel rushed for 159 yards and four touchdowns. That performance landed Trobel among the top power-ranked players for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
The showdown between St. Edward (7th in the MaxPreps state rankings) and Cathedral (9th) shaped up to be more of a takedown. St. Edward took its contest against Cathedral by a conclusive 39 - 14 score. Nevertheless, St. Edward did not have enough punch to impress the power rankings algorithm and slipped one spot in the rankings.
Look Out Below
Having stolen a close one from Pickerington North in its previous game, Reynoldsburg got a taste of its own medicine against Lincoln. Reynoldsburg was close but not close enough as it fell 10 - 7 to Lincoln. The fight Reynoldsburg demonstrated in its 33 - 31 win the game before seemed replaced by lethargy in this one. The rough outing dragged it down 11 positions in the power rankings -- the largest fall of the week.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Pickerington North (23rd in the power rankings) and Pickerington Central (6th). Pickerington North will be strutting in after a win while Pickerington Central will be stumbling in from a defeat. Will Pickerington North repeat its success, or will Pickerington Central bounce back and dish team a loss? Check back after their contest Friday for the full scoop.
