One team took the elevator way up and another took it way down in the power rankings this week. Among the action were the efforts of DePaul Catholic's senior Taquan Roberson, an offensive menace who scored five total TDs.
Can't Touch This
DePaul Catholic's 49 - 3 win over Seton Hall Prep last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior Taquan Roberson. Roberson threw for 236 yards and four touchdowns. That performance made Roberson one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
It was a battle of top-notch squads when St. Joseph (5th in the power rankings) took on New Canaan (18th) last week. St. Joseph kept its opponent New Canaan off the scoreboard entirely, winning the match 28 - 0. St. Joseph gave the New Canaan offensive line some real trouble with five sacks (and will no doubt be looking to keep the pressure on Warde this Friday).
Movin on Up
Ramapo managed to bank 303 more yards than its opponent Bergenfield last week, and going the extra distance paid off. Everything went Ramapo's way against Bergenfield as it secured a 49 - 0 win. Senior Aj Wingfield deserves a lot of the credit as he tossed the ball for 160 yards and three TDs. The team's efforts were enough to boost its power ranking by ten, which was the most sizeable gain made by any team in the rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between St. Peter's Prep (3rd in the power rankings) and Bergen Catholic (1st). St. Peter's Prep will be sulking in after a defeat while Bergen Catholic will strut in boosted by a win. Will Bergen Catholic repeat its success, or will St. Peter's Prep bounce back and dish team a loss? Check back after their contest Friday for the full scoop.
