District 2-5A is 3/4 finished and tonight will probably determine which team will take the crown in two weeks.

For sure, the winner of 2-5A Lubbock Coronado at 2-5A Amarillo High will stand alone in first place in district and potentially clinch an early playoff spot. Both the Sandies and the Westerners are the only undefeated teams in district play after two weeks.

Both squads come into tonight's early double-header game at Dick Bivins Stadium undefeated in district play at 2-0.

The second game of the double-header has 2-5A Amarillo Tascosa hosting 2-5A San Angelo Central. Both are 1-1 in district playÿ meaning tonight is a must-win for both the long-traveling Bobcats and home team Rebels if a playoff berth is to be salvaged.

2-5A Lubbock Monterey plays 2-5A Lubbock High tonight at Lowrey Field in Lubbock. The Monterey Plainsmen stand at 1-1 after a surprise district loss to Coronado in week one. Lubbock is last place at 3-4 overall and 0-2 in district.

District 3-4A has a clear leader going into week seven - the Whitefaces of Hereford at 2-0 in district, 6-1 overall. Hereford travels to Dick Bivins Stadium Saturday to play the winless 3-4A Amarillo Caprock Longhorns.ÿ

Last night, 3-4A Amarillo Palo Duro improved their district record to 2-1 with a 24-0 shutout of the 3-4A Dumas Demons (1-2 in district) in 40 miles per hour gusting sub-freezing winds at Dick Bivins Stadium.

The Raiders of 3-4A Canyon Randall travel to the intimidating confines of Harvester Field to take on the 3-4A Pampa Harvesters tonight with a 7:30 PM kickoff. Both teams enter tonight at 1-1 in district play. The winner will be tied with Palo Duro for second place in district barring a major upset from 0-7 Caprock over 2-0 Hereford Saturday afternoon.
