USC landed yet another key piece to its 2013 recruiting class when safety
gave the Trojans a verbal pledge this morning. Cravens selected the Trojans over a host of other offers, including Michigan and Nebraska.
USC now has commitments from the nation's top quarterback (Max Browne
), top running back (Ty Isaac
) and top safety in Cravens.
The Trojans recently checked in at No. 6 in
team recruiting rankings
, and could finish even higher despite a class that is limited in number due to NCAA sanctions.
Cravens is simply a special player, able to dominate at a number of different positions on the field.
"Su'a can do almost anything," said Vista Murrieta (Murrieta, Calif.)
head coach Coley Candaele. "He's a kid that wants to be successful. He wants to do well. He's proven he's willing to be coachable and make adjustments to win. Because that's the ultimate goal, he wants to win."
On the field last season, Cravens did a lot of winning, guiding the team to an undefeated season that was tarnished by forfeit losses due to a roster technicality. His Vista Murrieta squad debuted at No. 15 in the preseason Top 25 Early Contenders
With Cravens committed, USC now has four of the nation's Top 17 recruits
, a remarkable achievement for Lane Kiffin's staff.
