It was a week for basketball-like point totals in the MaxPreps Texas Top 25 with seven ranked teams scoring at least 60 points.
Leading the way was No. 17 Aledo with 91 points, followed by No. 2 Allen with 77 and No. 20 Fort Bend Bush (Richmond) with 72.
The Top 25 averaged a very healthy 48.5 points for the week.
But the team that made the biggest climb this week actually scored the fewest points. Seven Lakes (Katy) jumped 12 rungs to No. 13 after giving No. 3 Katy a scare in Saturday's 17-12 loss. Katy came into the game having just one district loss in the last nine seasons, that coming in 2008.
Debuting this week at No. 25 is undefeated Sachse. The 8-0 Mustangs remained atop District 11-5A with a 24-10 victory over Garland. The Sachse passing attack averages 307 yards per game, best among Class 5A teams in the Dallas area.
Games of interest this week include Smithson Valley at Canyon (New Braunfels), Fort Bend Bush (Richmond) facing Fort Bend Elkins (Missouri City), Cedar Hill hosting Mansfield Timberview (Arlington), Reagan (San Antonio) against Johnson (San Antonio) and Seven Lakes vs. Cinco Ranch (Katy).
Here's the MaxPreps Texas Top 25 following Week 7 games.
