If Priest River were expecting to get some payback for the 8-29 defeat against Newport the last time they met, then they were left disappointed. Priest River found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unpleasant 8-34 punch to the gut against Newport on Friday. The state rankings had actually given Priest River a slight edge heading into the game, making this hurt that much more.
The loss dropped Priest River back to even at 1-1. The win bumped Newport's record up to 2-0.
Priest River will be defending their home turf for the first time next week when they go up against St. Maries at 7:00 PM. Newport will stay at home against Deer Park at 7:00 PM.
