Alpharetta (Ga.) jumped out to an early lead against
West Forsyth (Cumming, Ga.) and never looked back on the way to a 31-17 victory on Saturday.
The Raiders scored seven points in the first quarter. Alpharetta scored on a touchdown pass by
Vito Priore to
James Marhaugh.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Priore to Marhaugh in the first quarter, AHS was up 17-10 at the half.
The Raiders expanded their lead to 21 points entering the fourth quarter. Alpharetta scored two times in the third, including once on an
Austin King touchdown pass to
Andre Herton.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 27-14 win for AHS.
The defeat comes as a step back for West Forsyth, who notched a 33-29 victory over Starr's Mill in its previous outing. The win was a nice bounce back for the Raiders, who lost to Lovejoy last week, 24-23. The loss ended West Forsyth's two-game winning streak.
In a AAAAAA Region 6 game next week West Forsyth (2-2) takes on Centennial, and Alpharetta (2-2) will go up against South Forsyth also in a AAAAAA Region 6 game.
