Both El Cajon Valley (2-8) and Serra (5-5) have made it this far into the playoffs, but they square off this Friday at 7:00 PM to determine who is worthy to move on. The timing is good for Serra since El Cajon Valley is limping into the contest on a seven-game losing streak.
There's no need to mince words: El Cajon Valley lost to Granite Hills last week, and it lost bad. The score wound up at 45 - 0.
As for Serra, it has netted another blowout to add to its collection (now totaling four) after its most recent game. It put the hurt on Clairemont last week with a conclusive 52 - 14 victory. Sophomore Timmy Zebroski was a big part of the win as his strong performance led the charge (he tossed the ball for 281 yards and four TDs). Zebroski also tagged on a 40-yard TD reception in the fourth quarter.
The last time they met, Serra skirted past El Cajon Valley 24 - 22. This defeat knocked El Cajon Valley out of the playoffs, so expect it to come at Serra with a vengeful fire.
