At the top of this week's MaxPreps/National Guard National Top 100, things look a lot like they did seven days ago.
New Jersey's Don Bosco Prep, fresh off a 34-10 win over rival Bergen Catholic, remains at the No. 1 spot for the third-straight week - the longest run at the top by any team this season.
Texas juggernaut Southlake Carroll remains in the No. 2 slot after a 45-7 win over Grapevine, while Warren Central, Ind., stayed solid at No. 3 with a 28-6 playoff victory against North Central.
No. 4 and No. 5 positions changed - albeit slightly. De La Salle, Calif., and Jesuit, Ore., flip-flopped from last week, with De La Salle trading up and Jesuit moving down.
Two other teams made significant leaps to land in the Top 25. Hoover, Ala., attained its highest ranking of the season at No. 15 after a 37-7 win over Theodore. Xavier, Iowa, wasn't even in the Top 100 last week, but climbed 142 spots after a 28-7 postseason triumph over a very solid Cedar Falls club.

Notes: No. 6 Lakeland, Fla., won its 40th-straight game in dramatic fashion, coming from behind to defeat rival Kathleen. It was a big week for Blue Springs, Mo., teams, as No. 7 Blue Springs South knocked off Kansas City perennial power, Rockhurst, and No. 10 Blue Springs defeated Liberty, setting up a monster rematch of a Sept. 15 game won by South, 34-3.Best matchup you won't see this year: No. 9 John Curtis, La., vs. No. 11 East St. John, La. The two teams played a year ago in the regular season, with ESJ handing the Patriots' a 16-6 loss. It won't happen again in 2006, with John Curtis competing in Louisiana's 2A playoffs, and East St. John going at it in the 5A level.Bluegrass State high school football fans will get spoiled Friday as No. 14 Male, Ky., meets No. 54 St. Xavier, Ky., in a rematch of a Oct. 20 classic won 28-27 by Male.No. 20 DeMatha, D.C., was MaxPreps Team of the Week, but No. 17 Muskegon, Mich., received strong consideration. The Big Reds knocked previously-unbeaten No. 34 Lowell out of the state playoffs in a 45-35 shootout. The Lowell defense was allowing just over seven points per game before running into a hot Muskegon offense. The Red Arrows are the highest-rated team whose season is now over.Speaking of shootouts, No. 18 Colerain, Ohio, had given up 42 points all season, but allowed 31 in a comeback attempt by Archbishop Moeller. Colerain survived the scare to advance in Ohio's Division I playoffs and will meet No. 87 Sycamore Saturday, who they beat 19-8 Oct. 20.No. 20 DeMatha, D.C., got its 20th-straight win by defeating Washington Catholic Athletic Conference rival Good Counsel, 42-13.No. 24 Prattville, Ala., is 34-2 since 2004.No. 38 Smithson Valley, Texas, bounced back from a loss last week in a big way by defeating perennial power Converse Judson, 35-20. The Rockets had won five-straight before falling to Smithson Valley.No. 49 Bellevue, Wash., makes its first appearance in the Top 100 this season, and it's probably overdue. The Wolverines are seeking their fifth Class 3A title in the past six years, and haven't won by less than 21 points in 2006.Legendary head coach John McKissick of No. 51 Summerville, S.C., is still in the hunt for his first undefeated season since 1998 after notching career win 542 Friday. McKissick has coached the Green Wave since 1952.Ryan Bass. Remember the name. Bass helped No. 61 Corona Centennial jump 61 spots this week by rushing for 199 yards and three touchdowns against rival Corona. For the season, the 5-10, 195-pound junior has 1,989 yards and 32 touchdowns, this after tallying 2,137 yards and 34 scores as a sophomore.No. 68 O'Gorman, S.D., has won 38-straight games, easily the longest streak in the state. O'Gorman meets No. 73 Roosevelt in a playoff rematch of a 21-14 game played Sept. 2.No. 77 West Monroe, La., hasn't lost since its 2005 season opener, a span of 22 games.No. 90 Austin Westwood, Texas, overcame a 17-point fourth quarter deficit to beat Pflugerville in overtime, 51-48.No. 85 Stevens Point, Wis., will meet No. 92 Homestead in playoff action Friday. One of the more off-the-radar "big games" of the weekend was No. 99 Nease, Fla., facing Bartram Trail (8-2). Nease won, 24-17, to extend its win streak to 19 games.No. 100 Archbishop Moeller, Ohio, has our vote as the best 5-5 team in high school football history. The Crusaders lost Lakota West, No. 25 Byrnes, S.C., No. 47 St. Edward, No. 8 St. Xavier, and No. 18 Colerain to end their season in the playoffs.
