Tampa Chamberlain’s dismantling of Tampa Hillsborough sends the Terriers tumbling. Meanwhile, Chamberlain takes a step up and more movement abounds on the bottom half of the poll.
One squad falls off the charts (Clearwater Countryside) while another makes its debut (Tampa Jesuit).
And plenty of others are looking to crash the poll.
Tampa Bay Top 10 – Week 4
1. SEFFNER ARMWOOD (3-0) – Another ho-hum week as the Hawks turn in a 41-0 win against Brandon. Quarterback Mywan Jackson throws for 148 yards, runs for another 96 and scores three touchdowns and runs of 3, 22 and 31 yards. Oh and the Armwood defense limits Brandon to one first down in the game.

2. TAMPA CHAMBERLAIN (3-0) – Not only did the Chiefs exercise a recent demon, topping a Hillsborough program which had defeated them five-straight seasons, it did it in a huge way, smashing the talented Terriers 48-21. The Chiefs, who moved up one spot, got a huge game from playmaking quarterback Dontae Aycock, who ran for 136 yards, passed for 96 yards and was involved in five touchdowns.
Up next: hosting Blake (0-3)
3. TAMPA PLANT (2-1) – Look at these numbers for Plant quarterback Aaron Murray in the Panthers 56-14 against Tampa Middleton – 18 of 26 passes for 392 yards and seven touchdowns. And all of that except one completion for nine yards came in the first half! Murray was named MaxPreps National Player of the Week as a result. The Plant offensive machine also included tight end Orson Charles catching three touchdowns and wide receiver Allen Sampson snaring two.
Up next: at Riverview (0-2)
4. LARGO (2-0) – After three weeks, the Packers have not allowed a single point. Sure, Largo was off last Friday, but it didn’t allow any points the previous two Friday nights either. And with quarterback Ryan Eppes manning the offense and linebacker Mike Mary helming the defense, it’s likely there will be more shutout wins this season.
Up next: at St. Petersburg (2-1)
5. TAMPA BAY TECH (3-0) – The Titans’ opponents all know the game plan – Maurice Hagens leads the dominant rushing attack that goes left, then right and then up the middle – and still no one can stop it. Hagens ran for 182 yards on 32 carries as the Titans defeated Tampa Sickles 21-10. Hagens has 432 yards on the season and owns a hefty 5.8 yards a carry average.
Up next: at Tampa Freedom (1-1)
6. DUNEDIN (3-0) – The Falcons’ fans have been waiting for tailback Adaris Bellamy to break loose. Well, in Dunedin’s 56-7 win against Seminole Osceola, he did. During one stretch of the game, Bellamy had six touchdowns over a span of eight carries. He finished the game with 204 yards.
Up next: at Clearwater Countryside (2-1)
7. TAMPA HILLSBOROUGH (2-1) – The loss to No. 2 Chamberlain sent the Terriers spiraling down the poll. Hillsborough has been knocked for a loop but don’t expect it to go down without a fight and miss the postseason this year, which last occurred in 1998. Coach Earl Garcia and his troops are too good and will rebound, even in the tough district 4A-11, with Armwood and Tampa Bay Tech.
Up next: at Tampa Middleton (1-2)
8. DADE CITY PASCO (3-0) – The Pirates used a block extra point to get past Wesley Chapel 21-20 in a contest that was way too close for comfort. When Jarrod Carmody got his paw up and blocked the kick, it gave Pasco the win and kept it on the poll.
Up next: at Hudson (1-1)
9. TAMPA JESUIT (3-0) – The Tigers make a splash for the first time with an impressive 56-7 win against St. Petersburg Catholic. Unbeaten Jesuit, which has outscored teams 125-14 this year, scored five touchdowns in the second quarter to break the game open. Wide receiver Erick McGriff had touchdown catches of 66 and 26 yards and had a 70-yard kick return called back due to a penalty.
Up next: Hosting Tampa Robinson (1-2)
10. GIBSONTON EAST BAY (2-1) – The Indians were one of the early-season, feel-good stories after jumping out to a 2-0 start. East Bay was tripped up 22-19 by a hungry Tampa Wharton team. Although held in check against Wharton, East Bay tailback Chaz Burrows has been among the area’s best. He has 354 yards and three touchdowns in three games this season.
Up next: Hosting Brandon (1-2)
