The regular season was a success, but the real challenge begins now, in the postseason. This Friday Palestine-Wheatley takes on Mountain Pine in the first playoff game of the year. Neither team wants a repeat from last game, where each was handed a considerable defeat.
Palestine-Wheatley is still above.500 but has been slipping the past two games. Things didn't go well at all for it last week, where the team lost 45 - 0 to Hazen.
Meanwhile, the match between Mountain Pine and Foreman was close at the half, but you wouldn't know it by looking at the final score. Mountain Pine suffered a painful 49 - 21 defeat to Foreman last week. The loss shouldn't obscure the performances of sophomore Collin Smith and senior Dafavioun Haywood, though; the former rushed for 47 yards and threw for two touchdowns, and the latter ran for 73 yards and also punched in one touchdown.
After their losses, Palestine-Wheatley dropped to 8-2 and Mountain Pine dropped to 7-3. We'll find out on Friday if Palestine-Wheatley can recover from its defensive difficulties last week or if Mountain Pine gives the team a hard time.
