National Guard and Wildfires

Utah Army National Guard Staff Sgt. Jason Townsend, 2-211 Aviation Battalion, drops water on the Tunnel Hollow fire near Morgan, Utah back on July 23, 2014. The two HH-60 Black Hawks assisting with the fire were able to drop more than 29,000 gallons of water on the fire.

The Tunnel Hollow fire started on July 20, 2014 and took over a week to contain. The lightning-caused fire ended up burning over 1,400 acres in Northern Utah. Hundreds of personnel from across the state, including land and air crews, along with members of the Utah National Guard worked around the clock to battle and contain the Tunnel Hollow fire.
