Payson Longhorns (Payson, AZ) backers went home thrilled Wednesday as they saw their basketball team smash the visiting Bourgade Catholic Golden Eagles (Phoenix, AZ), 45-16 in a league contest.

The Longhorns (18-6) will now prepare for their contest against Benjamin Franklin (Queen Creek, AZ). The Chargers go into the 3A Metro contest with a 15-10 record. In their last contest, Benjamin Franklin smashed San Tan Foothills (Queen Creek, AZ), 71-31, in a league contest.

Next up, the Golden Eagles face the Northwest Christian Crusaders (Phoenix, AZ) in a 3A Metro match, on Friday, January 30. Bourgade Catholic will attempt to advance on its 14-11 season record. The Crusaders enter the match with a 4-16 record after their 53-31 league loss to Gilbert Christian (Gilbert, AZ).
