In Thursday's non-league contest, the host Belen Eagles basketball team scored a big 77-49 win over the Gallup Bengals.

The Eagles (8-9) will now prepare for their contest against St. Pius X (Albuquerque, NM). The Sartans come into the 4A District 5 contest with a 12-5 record. In their last contest, St. Pius X smashed Taos (Taos, NM), 73-63, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Bengals battle the Chinle Wildcats (Chinle, AZ) in a non-league contest, on Saturday, January 18. Gallup will attempt to better on its 6-9 season record. The Wildcats come into the contest with a 13-7 record after their 60-53 league loss to Tuba City (Tuba City, AZ).
