New Mexico High School Basketball - Zuni can't get by Thoreau
February 13, 2025: Thoreau, NM 87323 Thoreau Hawks (Thoreau, NM) supporters left the game happy Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad hold off the visiting Zuni Thunderbirds (Zuni, NM), 42-36 in a league match.
With the victory, Thoreau advances its record to 12-12 on the year. The Hawks host Wingate (Fort Wingate, NM) to meet the Bears in a 3A District 1 match on Tuesday, February 18. The Bears enter the match with a record of 14-11. Wingate lost 61-37 in their recent league match against Tohatchi (Tohatchi, NM)
The Thunderbirds now own a 4-20 record. They put it on the line next when they host Newcomb for a 3A District 1 match on Tuesday, February 18. Zuni will meet a Skyhawks squad coming off a 45-43 league loss to Crownpoint (Crownpoint, NM). The Skyhawks record now stands at 15-9.
