March 16, 2023: Los Angeles, CA 90020 The Pilgrim Panthers (Los Angeles, CA) volleyball overcame the visiting Ojai Valley Spuds (Ojai, CA), 3-0 in Thursday's league outing.
With the win, Pilgrim upgrades its record to 12-7 on the year. The Panthers host International School of Los Angeles (Los Angeles, CA) to play the Lions in a non-league outing on Friday, March 17. The Lions go into the outing with a record of 0-4. International School of Los Angeles lost 3-0 in their recent non-league outing against Village Christian (Sun Valley, CA)
The Spuds now own a 0-2 record. They play next when they travel to Hillcrest Christian for a outing on Tuesday, March 21. Ojai Valley will play a Saints squad coming off a 3-0 league loss to Beacon Hill (Camarillo, CA). The Saints record now stands at 1-7.
Match Summary
Note: Near the end of set 1, the referee awarded a point earned by the visiting team to the home team because he was confused about the layout of the scoreboard (scoreboard manager was tallying visitor points under "Home" and home team points under "Guest"). When made aware of the error, referee declined acknowledge the erorr and correct the score. Pilgrim coach (and AD) also refused to discuss the situation and pushed to continue the game with the incorrect score, which gave his team the advantage. Scoreboard showed 21-19 for OVS after the point was awarded by the scorekeepers, was "corrected" to 20-20 by the referee.
