In Friday's non-league game, the Nixon-Smiley Mustangs (Nixon, TX) football team edged the visiting Luling Eagles (Luling, TX), by a tally of 22-21.

The Mustangs now sport a 1-0 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Three Rivers for a non-league contest on Friday, September 5. Nixon-Smiley will battle a Bulldogs squad coming off a 41-6 non-league loss to Falls City (Falls City, TX). The Bulldogs record now stands at 0-1.

Coming up next, the Eagles battle the Anderson-Shiro Fighting Owls (Anderson, TX) in a non-league contest, on Friday, September 5. Luling will attempt to better on its 0-1 season record.
