The Murphysboro Red Devils felled the host Benton Rangers football team by a score of 28-20 in Friday's non-league challenge.

In their next game, the Red Devils face the Massac County/Joppa-Maple Grove Patriots (Metropolis, IL) in a Southern Illinois River-to-River - Ohio challenge, on Friday, September 20. Murphysboro will attempt to improve on its 2-1 season record. The Patriots go into the challenge with a 1-2 record after their 23-21 non-league win over Anna-Jonesboro/Dongola (Anna, IL).

The Rangers (2-1) will now prepare for their challenge against DuQuoin (DuQuoin, IL). The Indians go into the Southern Illinois River-to-River - Mississippi challenge with a 2-1 record. In their last challenge, DuQuoin toppled Herrin (Herrin, IL), 31-0, in a non-league challenge.
