Smith Center Redmen (Smith Center, KS) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Russell Broncos (Russell, KS), 51-39 in a league bout.

With the win, Smith Center upgrades its record to 7-1 on the season. The Redmen host Republic County (Belleville, KS) to play the Buffaloes in a non-league bout on Friday, January 14. The Buffaloes go into the bout with a record of 0-8. Republic County lost 52-23 in their recent non-league bout against Sacred Heart (Salina, KS)

Next up, the Broncos play the Oakley Plainsmen (Oakley, KS) in a Mid-Continent bout, on Friday, February 4. Russell will attempt to upgrade on its 4-4 season record.
