North Carolina High School Basketball - Polk County nips Charles D. Owen

January 18, 2021: Black Mountain, NC 28711

Polk County Wolverines (Columbus, NC) backers were pleased Monday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Charles D. Owen Warhorses (Black Mountain, NC), 61-56 in a league bout.

With the victory, Polk County upgrades its record to 2-0 on the campaign. The Wolverines host Madison (Marshall, NC) to play the Patriots in a Western Highlands 1A/2A bout on Wednesday, January 20. The Patriots come into the bout with a record of 1-2. Madison won 58-37 in their recent league bout against Avery County (Newland, NC)

Next up, the Warhorses play the Mountain Heritage Cougars (Burnsville, NC) in a Western Highlands 1A/2A bout, on Thursday, January 21. Charles D. Owen will attempt to upgrade on its 1-3 season record. The Cougars come into the bout with a 2-0 record after their 53-50 league win over Mitchell (Bakersville, NC).
