The Russell Red Devils (Russell, KY) basketball edged the visiting Boyd County Lions (Ashland, KY), 55-48 in Friday's non-league bout.

The Red Devils now possess a 15-3 record. They play next when they travel to Knott County Central for a non-league bout on Saturday, January 25. Russell will play a Patriots team coming off a 81-26 league win over Jenkins (Jenkins, KY). The Patriots record now stands at 7-4.

With the loss, Boyd County falls to 12-6 on the campaign. The Lions travel to Fairview (Ashland, KY) to play the Eagles in a District 64 bout on Monday, January 27. The Eagles go into the bout with a record of 2-13. Fairview lost 64-20 in their recent non-league bout against Glenwood (New Boston, OH)
