In Tuesday's league outing, the Mitchell Mountaineers (Bakersville, NC) basketball squad beat the host Polk County Wolverines (Columbus, NC), by a count of 77-66.

The Mountaineers (3-4) will now prepare for their outing against Avery County (Newland, NC). The Vikings go into the Western Highlands 1A/2A outing with a 0-6 record. In their last outing, Avery County was topped by Charles D. Owen (Black Mountain, NC), 65-50, in a league outing.
