Fans at Thursday's league challenge between the Cortez Colts (Phoenix, AZ) and the host Vista Grande Spartans (Casa Grande, AZ), saw Cortez's basketball squad hold off Vista Grande by a tally of 53-51.

With the victory, Cortez improves its record to 10-9 on the campaign. The Colts host Combs (San Tan Valley, AZ) to confront the Coyotes in a 4A Black Canyon challenge on Tuesday, February 1. The Coyotes come into the challenge with a record of 8-16. Combs lost 69-59 in their recent league challenge against Poston Butte (San Tan Valley, AZ)

Next up, the Spartans confront the Coronado Dons (Scottsdale, AZ) in a 4A Black Canyon challenge, on Tuesday, February 1. Vista Grande will attempt to improve on its 8-16 season record. The Dons come into the challenge with a 4-12 record after their 65-24 league win over Apache Junction (Apache Junction, AZ).
