In Thursday's league contest, the visiting Union Grove Lions basketball team scored a close 35-33 triumph over the Hawkins Hawks.

The Lions (24-3) will now prepare for their contest against Harleton (Harleton, TX). The Wildcats go into the 2A Region III District 21 contest with a 19-9 record. In their last match, Harleton got by Ore City (Ore City, TX), 44-16, in a league match.

The Hawks now sport a 17-12 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Harleton for a 2A Region III District 21 match on Tuesday, February 3.
