North Carolina High School Basketball - Lakewood nips Union

January 29, 2026: Rose Hill, NC 28458

In Thursday's league contest, the visiting Lakewood Leopards basketball squad scored a tight 69-66 victory over the Union Spartans.

With the victory, Lakewood advances its record to 12-7 on the year. The Leopards travel to Red Springs (Red Springs, NC) to face the Red Devils in a non-league match on Monday, February 2. The Red Devils enter the match with a record of 2-15. Red Springs lost 61-10 in their recent league contest against South Brunswick (Southport, NC)

In their next game, the Spartans battle the East Columbus Gators (Lake Waccamaw, NC) in a Carolina 1A/2A contest, on Tuesday, February 3. Union will attempt to better on its 9-10 season record. The Gators go into the contest with a 12-4 record after their 56-6 league win over West Columbus (Cerro Gordo, NC).
