North Carolina High School Basketball - Freedom can't hold off Ashe County

January 31, 2022: West Jefferson, NC 28694

The Ashe County Huskies basketball team scored 72 points and held the visiting Freedom Patriots to 71 in the Huskies league triumph on Monday.

The Huskies now sport a 9-9 record. They put it on the line next when they host Hibriten for a 3A/4A Conference 52 contest on Tuesday, February 1. Ashe County will battle a Panthers team coming off a 60-56 league loss to Freedom (Morganton, NC). The Panthers record now stands at 8-10.

The Patriots (12-6) will now prepare for their contest against South Caldwell (Hudson, NC). The Spartans enter the 3A/4A Conference 52 contest with a 11-5 record. In their last contest, South Caldwell nudged Watauga (Boone, NC), 56-44, in a league contest.
