In Tuesday's non-league outing, the Ashe County Huskies (West Jefferson, NC) basketball squad beat the host Mitchell Mountaineers (Bakersville, NC), by a count of 56-42.

The Huskies (8-5) will now prepare for their outing against Alexander Central (Taylorsville, NC). The Cougars go into the 3A/4A Conference 52 outing with a 12-2 record. In their last outing, Alexander Central defeated West Wilkes (Millers Creek, NC), 57-20, in a non-league outing.
