Fans at Thursday's non-league challenge between the Highland Hawks (Gilbert, AZ) and the host Shadow Ridge Stallions (Surprise, AZ), saw Highland's basketball squad hold off Shadow Ridge by a count of 69-62.

With the victory, Highland upgrades its record to 12-3 on the campaign. The Hawks host Mountain Pointe (Phoenix, AZ) to play the Pride in a 6A Central challenge on Friday, January 7. The Pride come into the challenge with a record of 7-1. Mountain Pointe won 80-57 in their recent non-league challenge against Pinnacle (Phoenix, AZ)

Next up, the Stallions play the Westview Knights (Avondale, AZ) in a 6A Southwest challenge, on Friday, January 7. Shadow Ridge will attempt to upgrade on its 11-4 season record. The Knights come into the challenge with a 4-6 record after their 73-61 non-league loss to Mountain Ridge (Glendale, AZ).
