Melrose Buffaloes (Melrose, NM) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Texico Wolverines (Texico, NM), 50-46 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Melrose upgrades its record to 7-2 on the season. The Buffaloes travel to Fort Sumner/House (Fort Sumner, NM) to play the in a A District 6 bout on Saturday, January 8. The go into the bout with a record of 6-2. Fort Sumner/House won 59-47 in their recent league bout against Dora (Dora, NM)

Next up, the Wolverines play the Dora Coyotes (Dora, NM) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, January 8. Texico will attempt to upgrade on its 6-4 season record. The Coyotes go into the bout with a 6-5 record after their 59-47 league loss to Fort Sumner/House (Fort Sumner, NM).
