The Gilmour Academy Lancers volleyball team scored 3 points and limited the host Northview Wildcats to 0 in the Lancers non-league victory on Saturday.
The Lancers now have a 15-3 record. They put it on the line next when they host St. Joseph Academy for a non-league game on Tuesday, October 12. Gilmour Academy will meet a Jaguars team coming off a 3-0 non-league win over Riverside (Painesville, OH). The Jaguars record now stands at 14-7.
The Wildcats (11-8) will now prepare for their game against Perrysburg (Perrysburg, OH). The Yellow Jackets enter the Northern Lakes game with a 19-1 record. In their last game, Perrysburg gained a win over Bowling Green (Bowling Green, OH), 3-0, in a league game.
SYLVANIA - Saturday's match between Gilmour Academy and Northview was the first meeting for the two schools in history and the first victory went to the Lancer in straight sets. With the loss, Northview moves to 11-8 overall, 9-2 in the NLL.
Leading for Northview was sophomore middle blocker, Claire Smith with 4 kills on 8 attempts, hitting .500, while also adding 3 blocks. Senior opposite, Madi Taylor also provided 3 blocks and a team high 12 digs. Junior outside hitter, Kam Hunt provided 9 kills. Sophomore setter, Natalie Kerchevall dished our 14 assists.
Northview hosts NLL rival Perrysburg on Senior Night, Tuesday, October 12th with freshman starting at 4:45 P.M., JV at 5:45 P.M. and Varsity to follow.
