In Friday's league outing, the Hopewell Blue Devils (Hopewell, VA) basketball squad edged the visiting Matoaca Warriors (Chesterfield, VA), by a count of 62-56.

The Blue Devils (5-2) will now prepare for their outing against Mecklenburg County (Baskerville, VA). The Phoenix go into the non-league outing with a 3-4 record. In their last outing, Mecklenburg County was tipped by Halifax County (South Boston, VA), 57-43, in a league outing.
