The Shelby Golden Lions (Shelby, NC) basketball nipped the host Freedom Patriots (Morganton, NC), 40-35 in Tuesday's non-league test.

The Golden Lions (7-0) will now prepare for their test against Hibriten (Lenoir, NC). The Panthers go into the non-league test with a 10-1 record. In their last test, Hibriten got by Draughn (Valdese, NC), 57-41, in a non-league test.
