The crowd at Monday's non-league challenge between the Croatan Cougars (Newport, NC) and the host Ashley Screaming Eagle (Wilmington, NC), observed Croatan's basketball team knock off Ashley by a score of 73-57.

The Cougars (9-2) will now prepare for their challenge against Southside (Chocowinity, NC). The Seahawks come into the non-league challenge with a 1-6 record. In their last challenge, Southside dropped by Princeton (Princeton, NC), 60-56, in a non-league challenge.

In their next game, the Screaming Eagle battle the Hoggard Vikings (Wilmington, NC) in a 3A/4A Mideastern challenge, on Friday, January 3. Ashley will attempt to improve on its 5-6 season record.
